Would You Like Shipley To Have A Tool Library?

A tool library is a service which loans tools (and potentially other items) to patrons in the same way a traditional library loans books and DVDs.

Did you know that the average power drill is only used for 13 minutes? This means many power drills actually end up being single-use items!

Benefits of a tool library include:
  • Saving money. Borrow the tools you need at a fraction of the retail price.
  • Saving space. No need to store bulky tools at home!
  • Supporting and upskilling your community. People are enabled to access tools they might not be able to afford to buy.
  • Trying out new skills and hobbies without having to spend on expensive tools upfront.
  • Promoting repair culture by giving more people the ability to repair items instead of chucking and replacing.
  • Reducing waste, protecting our planet. One tool can be shared between many people, reducing the number of individual purchases and waste going to landfill.

But what do you think?

You can help get Shipley Tool Library off the ground by completing our survey. We need to know what would benefit our community the most.
